World Street Food Festival at Queen Victoria Market.

Was slightly disappointed. I shouldn't have high expectation on this festival because it was supposed to be small scale of event.  But you still can try all different varieties of food ! After this, we went to Manchester Press for lunch (absolutely love it) and headed for Thai culture at Federation Square. I will blog about it soon.. =)

Have a good weekend !

Prahran Market

Last Summer break - One of the outings.

Was initially planned to South Melbourne Market. Somehow, the market was closed on that day. Luckily, I checked the trading days before I left home and changed my plan to walk around Chapel Street. Unexpectedly, passed by Prahran Market after a long walk along the chapel street. I reached at 3 and nearly to the closing hours.

I wish I could just carry the whole box back to Clayton. Haha! Dirt cheap! But No, I didn't.

What's the best thing to have during summer season? ICE CREAM ! When I was leaving from the market,
apparently, there is a ice-cream shop named Fritz Gelato stopped my way. It attracted me with lots of award winning labels on. The gelati here pride themselves as Italian style, made with fresh, organic ingredients and eliminating the need of artificial flavours and colours. So, Why not try it out? I tried the Plum Pudding and Pannacotta & Raspberry. I'm absolutely satisfied both of these flavours. It's creamy and the sweetness just good enough. I was intrigued by the flavour of Plum Pudding. It's the real thing with rums, spice and candied fruits.

Last Monday, I managed to spend some time to MOMBA FESTIVAL ! So glad that I'm off on Monday. The weather was perfectly sunny. If you're wondering what's Momba,
According to wiki, Momba is Australia's largest free community festival and one of the longest running festivals in Australia. Held Annually in the city of Melbourne. Momba is celebrated during the Labour Day long weekend (over four day, From Friday to the second Monday in March), and has been celebrated since 1955.

Parade Prelude started at 11am. Unfortunately, I couldn't grab a nice spot to take clear photos. This year, 2012 Momba Parade themed colourful journey of food - "Melbourne is delicious". Celebrating community, food and culture to highlight the city's diverse and exciting culinary culture.

Frankly, I feel so excited and enjoyed watching the whole parade show.

Labour Day at Green Refectory

Photobucket

Last Monday (12th March), watched the Parade in the city and headed to Brunswick for late lunch. Not a wise choice to hang around Brunswick during the labour day. Most of the shops and cafes closed on that day. We walked more than half an hour to look for good food! Walked in to a Vietnamese restaurant and the menu wasnt that attractive. We left without sitting on the chair less than 10 minutes. I read the menu, not the food that I'm looking for and I left. I dont think it's embarrassing. I rather not wasting my money on food that I'm not interested at.

Thank goodness, I've found Green Refectory!
The best thing is they do not have a break in between. Unlike other restaurants, often have break after 3 till 5pm. Maybe I'm different. I often have late lunch and hardly could find any restaurants open at this time.

Black Rock Beach

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I called it as little tiny rocks rather than sands.
Walked for at least 15 minutes to reach to the other side of beach which has lot of sands that you feel good with it. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A PAIN with all these tiny rocks when I was walking along with it.
