Melbourne Noodle Night Market 2013

Last year late spring in Melbourne, the Night Noodle Markets brought Asian aromas and flavours to Alexander Gardens for The Age Good Food Month. It was held for two weeks of Asian hawker-style street food line the grassy lawns, with dishes from the likes of Chin Chin, Wonderbao, Mamak and so on. More than 25 food stalls, a selection of bars and nightly entertainment can be found in the market! More information, please click here.

I couldn't remember how much it exactly cost for one plate of fried squids. All I know it's affordable but it wasn't taste that good as it appears to be. The squid was overcooked and too chewy, hence we were struggled to swallow it. But the batter was not bad as turned out crispy.

Now I understand why Wonderbao is so popular! Indeed, the buns are tasty. It's soft, subtly sweet and light as air. Overall, I'm satisfied of what I had.

Who doesn't know Gelato Messina now especially they were on Masterchef season 6?!

Mango Sundae with coconut and puddings. This is soooooo delicious! Everything is so well balanced. It has strong flavours of mango and coconut while maintaining the sweet level. One of the best sundae I ever had!

During our way back to station, we saw beautiful lanterns near the entrance of the garden. Instantly reminded me of Moon Festival with colorful design of lanterns.

Melbourne Noodle Night Market 2013 has surpassed my expectation and I had a lot of fun times. The setting was really nice with pretty lights. Good news that they will return to Melbourne in 2014! The markets open at 5pm and I recommend you get down early to avoid queues. Otherwise, you will regularly face 30 minutes for every stalls just like what I experienced. Also, when it gets crowded, we did not had seating and eventually eat while standing up.
