Taiwan Cafe @ Swanston St, CBD

Taiwan cafe is a place where you have a quick meal. Even though it has been open for years, I never intend to try out their food till today. It was a disappointment and I regretted spending $9.50 for this beef brisket noodles. Luckily I didn't add an extra boiled egg which would have cost me $1 on top of it.

It was served less than 5 minutes after they took my order! Jeez, that was unexpected and I was wondering that is this a fast food restaurant?! I gotta take a close up shot of the meat because there are only 5 tiny slices of beef brisket. The whole bowl contains 90% of noodle, 5% of meat and 5% of bakchoy. The soup lacks of flavour and too much oil on it.

Big disappointment for my first visit!

Wa Modern @ Malvern

Before picking up my parcel from post office, I visited Wa Modern in Malvern during lunch hour today. It's located nearby Malvern train station and it only takes 5 minutes of walking distance.

I purposely went there for lunch as they have special menu and price is more affordable!

They have nice and cozy environment.  I literally spent an hour here on my own.

Wa Modern Wafu Beef Burger with chips and soft drinks - $15

photo 3 photo 4

I'm really impressed with the portion of the burger! I wasn't expecting there is egg and bacon. In addition, this is not the ordinary beef patty but homemade patty with good flavours. With the toasted sesame buns, it added crunchy texture. I'm loving this burger and it is good value for money! $15 includes chips and drink, hey why not?! By the way, they have good chips (and it's not oily).

Other options for the burger are teriyaki chicken and katsu. However, the other dishes like noodles and rice will cost above $15 - $25. They also offer a range of sake and alcohol drinks.

If it tastes delicious, i would say it's worth it!

ShopHouse Kitchen @ QV

Whenever I pass by a cafe with a long queue, I will instantly put that on my to try list. It can't be bad if everyone is willing to line up for it! It has been a long time since I visited a Hong Kong cafe and I really missed the food when I traveled in Hong Kong. Hoping that Shop House Kitchen will be able to satisfy my cravings!

I really like the ambiance of the cafe. If you have been to Hong Kong style cafe, they tend to optimise the space with more tables and chairs. Keep in mind that you might need to share the tables with other customers.

Beef Brisket with Udon - $10.90
One of their specialty dishes. I really enjoyed it. The meat is tender and delicious. It is much better compared to China Bar as I have ordered the same dish there, however, I should have gone for noodles instead of udon though. I don't think the beef brisket goes well with udon. Oh well, it depends on individual preferences.

Pan-Fried Chicken and Shitake Mushroom Dumplings - 12 pcs - $9.50
Even though the dumpling has really good flavors, I find it is too salty for my liking. Nevertheless, it is not a bad dish overall.

Soya + Tofu Pudding + Grass Jelly  ($4.50 and Soya Pudding with sugar syrup($5.00)
Even though they are on the recommendation list, I found both of them to be my least favourite. The tofu pudding has a really tough texture instead of a smooth texture. It feels like eating the raw tofu and it's not pleasant to eat when comes to sweet flavours. It will be a good idea to order something else.

I am hoping to have a hot bowl of smooth tofu pudding in a classic way. It is a disappointment dessert to me.

They do offer a lot of varieties in the menu and may return for a second visit.
But, I will definitely not order any drinks or dessert related to the tofu pudding!

The Potsticker @ Caulfield

It's ain't easy to find a nice Chinese cuisine in Caulfield area. Sometimes, I would crave for dim sum but I was just too lazy going all the way to the city. Decided went to The Potsticker since it's nearby my place. Also, it was DC's first time of having dim sum!

Surprisingly, they serve coffee in a chinese restaurant.

I was disappointed that they don't have egg tarts, cheung fun and custard bun. I mean, I never been to a yum cha session without serving egg tarts! Definitely not a best place for yumcha. It seems they are more catering to western customers. Average dim sum but it's quite pricey. It does lack of choice in the menu and nothing has caught my attention for second visit.

Once the Musical

"The musical is an unforgettable story about reaching for your dreams and the power of music to connect us all"

Last Thursday, I went to watch Once the Musical courtesy of Nuffnang. Thank you so much for the double tickets! I'm really grateful for the opportunity to watch the first musical show in Melbourne. The show was beyond words and MUST-WATCH! Also, I would like to thanks director of this production for letting us to join the producers and media at interval in the Marriner & Melba Suites for a chat plus complimentary drink and ice cream.

Once is the smash-hit, multi-award winning musical and now is playing in Melbourne at Princess Theatre. From the very first note, Once draws you in and never lets go. This emotionally captivating musical is the only show to have music that won the Academy Award, Grammy Award, Olivier Award and Tony Award.

Set in Modern day Dublin, Once is the story of a Guy who gave up on his music and his love and the Girl who inspired him to dream again. This exhilarating "Guy meets Girl" musical is performed by an extraordinary cast of actor-musicians who sing, dance and play their hearts out on a stage. Bring magic to the roles of Guy and Girl, and performing the Oscar award-winning song 'Falling Slowly' are Tom Parsons and Madeleine Jones.

There is not special effect, very honest and just the performers who telling the stories. In fact, it's unique musical that's tender, funny and soaring. The live musical was amazing, fantastic, and beautiful. I was totally moved by the story. I still couldn't get over with the story of this show.

This story ask a question:

The Lonely Girl

It has been a crazy week to me but it was productive! If you have followed my Instagram or Twitter, you'd probably know what am I up to. Heh.

I have been thinking that sometimes being a nice person can be easily forgotten by everyone. Especially when we spent a lot of effort of doing something good. Only if we do something bad, people will only remember how bad you are instead of the good things that you have done.

Anyway, time for bed! Have a good night =)
