Hwaro Korean @ Melbourne CBD

Seafood pancake (mild) - $17 

The texture of the pancake was good but it lacks of seafood ingredients. Slightly disappointed with this dish though the flavours were alright. Maybe I should try out the kimchi pancake on next time. 


Well marinated meat - Chili Pork Belly ($18.60) and Marinated Pork Ribs ($23.90)

I'd prefer pork belly over the pork ribs. We chose BBQ, however we were obliged to have two meats instead one. It was difficult for us to order other dishes since we were the only two people in a table.

Overall, it cost minimum $35 per person. It's better to have a group of friends to dine in instead of a table for two only. It has nice ambience and a great place to hang out as well.

Almond in Four Ways

Eating the nut itself, I'm not a big fan of them. But when comes to homemade nut milk, I'm totally into it! There is no other ingredients except nut and water. I also found two recipes in order to re-use the pulp. I bought 200g which cost around $4.50 and used it to make milk, cookies and choc balls. Nothing is wasted!

Almond Milk 
Recipe from Deliciously Ella's cookbook 

- 1 cup (200g) almonds 
- 3 cups of water
- 2 dates for natural sweeteners (optional) 

  1. Soak the almonds for at least 12 hours or overnight. 
  2. Drain the water.
  3. Blend the nuts with fresh water. 
  4. Separate the milk and almond pulp with nut bag/muslin cloth. 
  5. Store it in a bottle or jar in the fridge for 3-5 days. 
I tried to use my food processor to blend the nuts. However, major failed! The liquid were spilling everywhere. Best to use blender or stick blender which I used. To have best taste of the milk, I recommend to use nut bag or muslin cloth. I used the strainer for the first time of making nut milk but the taste didn't turned out that nice. It just my personal opinion. =)

Mango Berry Blast smoothies 
Serve 1 

- 1 cup almond milk 
- 1 cup spinach 
- 1 cup mango 
- 1/2 cup blueberries 

It taste delicious when using fresh nut milk. 

Almond Meal

After making the nut milk, I will use half of the almond pulp and dry it in the oven with 170 degrees to make almond meal! While another half of wet almond pulp, I use it to make almond choc cookies and bake it at the same degrees. Of course, you can dry all of it and use it as almond meal for other recipes!

Almond Choc Cookies 
Recipe adapted from comment in movenourishbelieve.com

- 1 cup of almond pulp/almond meal 
- 1/4 cup cacao powder
- 2 tbsp coconut oil 
- 4 tbsp maple syrup 
- 1 tsp bi-carb soda/baking soda
- 1 tbsp boiling water 

  1. Mix the baking soda with hot water. 
  2. Then, mix everything into a bowl.
  3. Bake it under 170 degrees for at least 20 minutes or until it dry. 

After drying the almond meal, store it in a container and make choc almond balls on next day. 

Choc Almond Balls 
Recipe from goodfood.com.au

- 1 cup almond meal 
- 6 dates (remove core and finely chopped) 
- 2 tbsp shredded coconut  
- 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence

  1. Mix everything in a blender or food processor. 
  2. Roll it into a ball. 
  3. Cover with desiccated coconut. 
  4. Store it in a container in the fridge to consumer for next few days.
